Capacity Planner

Lonza seeks a Capacity Planner in Basel to manage resource data and align personnel and equipment with operational needs through strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration.

This position focuses on overseeing capacity data for both staff and machinery to ensure resources match operational demands. The role operates primarily from the office, with the option to work remotely for up to 20% of the time, allowing for a flexible yet grounded approach to planning.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate resource, capacity, and demand information within the Planview planning system.
• Collaborate with Finance, Supply and Demand Planners, and Department Heads to identify capacity bottlenecks and create solutions.
• Track personnel and equipment availability to support Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), tactical scheduling, and daily operations.
• Evaluate capacity usage and build scenarios to balance workloads and improve resource efficiency.
• Deliver capacity insights and data to Network Supply Planners to support broader supply chain decisions.
• Detect, report, and address capacity risks, scheduling conflicts, and significant operational challenges.
• Enhance planning processes through continuous analysis, performance tracking, and participation in cross-functional meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Five to ten years of experience in scientific services, operations planning, or capacity planning.
• Hands-on experience with electronic planning and ERP systems, with a preference for SAP.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Deep knowledge of scientific operations, cross-functional workflows, site network dynamics, and drug development programs.
• Strong skills in project management, data analysis, business intelligence tools, and reporting.
