Head of Learning & Development

Bühler seeks a Head of Learning & Development in Uzwil to lead global L&D strategy, drive skills development, and manage a distributed team within a matrix organization.

The company is looking for a leader to define and embed a lifelong learning culture across its global operations. This role bridges strategic vision with practical execution, aligning learning initiatives with business goals to enhance employee growth and organizational performance. The position requires influencing stakeholders in a complex environment without relying on formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Define and advance the global Learning & Development strategy, offerings, and culture.
• Convert business objectives into actionable learning solutions, skills frameworks, and career pathways.
• Collaborate with the Learning Community, HR, and key partners to position learning as a driver for performance.
• Oversee the implementation and optimization of learning operations, tools, reporting, onboarding, and key initiatives.
• Manage and mentor a small, distributed team, promoting collaboration and a pragmatic, solution-focused work style.

Requirements

• Proven experience in L&D within international matrix organizations, with a track record of designing learning strategies and skills-based development approaches.
• Strong project and program management skills, capable of translating strategic priorities into scalable, measurable learning solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management abilities, including the confidence to engage senior leaders, challenge constructively, and influence without formal authority.
• Deep understanding of modern learning trends, including digital learning, AI-enabled solutions, and future skills, with the ability to apply them pragmatically.
• Experience in leadership, change management, and transformation, including guiding distributed teams and embedding learning into daily work and leadership practices.
