Bunge seeks a Legal Counsel to manage banking, trade finance, and corporate governance matters. The role requires qualified legal experience and strong drafting skills in English.
This position supports the global Corporate Secretary by handling legal advice for banking and structured trade finance transactions. The lawyer also oversees corporate governance and manages legal risks across various business units.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate documentation for general banking and structured trade finance deals.
- Handle negotiations for standard banking terms, daily agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
- Work with the board and senior leadership to uphold strong corporate governance standards.
- Partner with Treasury, Financial Services, and Governance teams to spot and mitigate legal risks.
- Oversee external legal counsel when necessary.
- Create and update legal templates and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency.
Requirements
- Admitted as a lawyer in England & Wales, New York, the EU, Singapore, Australia, or another major jurisdiction.
- Three to four years of experience in general banking, structured trade finance, and corporate governance.
- Proven ability to structure, draft, and negotiate legal documents for banking and trade finance.
- Excellent written English drafting capabilities.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
Nice to have
- Experience with ISDA and other derivative or financial market product documentation.
- Readiness to use AI tools for productivity and ongoing professional development.
