WinGD seeks a Model Integration & Virtualization Engineer in Winterthur to develop control-oriented models for 2-stroke engines using Simulink and real-time hardware-in-the-loop systems.
This position focuses on creating and integrating control models for 2-stroke internal combustion engines across Simulink, Model-in-the-Loop, and Hardware-in-the-Loop contexts. The role supports WinGD’s mission to drive technological advancement and sustainability within the global shipping sector.
Responsibilities
- Build and sustain scalable, modular Simulink architectures following modern Model-Based Development standards.
- Connect engine models to National Instruments and Speedgoat hardware-in-the-loop setups, ensuring they meet real-time execution constraints.
- Create and upkeep communication interfaces for CAN, CANopen, and Modbus protocols, including the related model connections.
- Work alongside simulation specialists to refine and verify engine models, thereby deepening your knowledge of internal combustion engine dynamics.
- Communicate technical details and high-level outcomes effectively to both engineering peers and management.
- Contribute actively as a cooperative team member within a diverse, cross-functional, and international workplace.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Solid proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
- Proven experience in constructing structured, modular, and maintainable Simulink models via Model-Based Development methods.
- Strong understanding of CAN, CANopen, and Modbus protocols and their implementation in real-time systems.
- Familiarity with Verification and Validation procedures within a Model-Based Development framework.
- Very fluent command of the English language.
Nice to have
- Prior exposure to real-time platforms such as National Instruments, Speedgoat, or dSPACE.
- Ability to communicate in German.
