Project Manager

Abbott seeks a Project Manager in Zürich to lead supplier-focused initiatives for continuous improvement and risk remediation in production. This onsite role requires strong engineering and project management expertise.

This individual contributor position drives continuous improvement and sustaining engineering efforts centered on supplier operations. The primary objective is to support strategic goals by identifying and remediating risks associated with the production of purchased components at external supplier sites.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project planning and execution, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and quality standards through effective resource and risk management.
• Maintain and support ongoing regulatory documentation and compliance processes.
• Coordinate with core team members across various departments and external partners to lead project initiatives.
• Analyze supplier product processes and customer requirements to enhance performance and address quality risks.
• Guide technical activities including design modifications, validation and verification testing, protocol releases, and regulatory or patent submissions.
• Implement project management best practices and lean methodologies to optimize products and workflows.
• Manage project expenses (PEx) to facilitate remediation activities at supplier locations.
• Control the project budget by providing accurate forecasts and generating mid- and end-of-month reports.
• Provide regular updates on project health and status to executive leadership.
• Foster clear communication channels with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Engineering, Regulatory, and R&D teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background.
• Between 3 and 10 years of professional experience in engineering roles.
• Proven advanced proficiency in project management methodologies and best practices.
• Extensive experience in supplier management within a project-based environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Solid financial acumen and business understanding.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for managing cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Fundamental knowledge of regulatory frameworks and quality system requirements.
