Anavia seeks a Senior Propulsion Engineer in Bilten, CH, to lead technical authority for propulsion systems, overseeing integration, verification, and testing for helicopter missions.

The company is looking for a technical expert to serve as the primary authority for its propulsion systems. This role focuses on engine integration, verification methods, and ensuring that propulsion solutions align with specific helicopter mission profiles while supporting both ground and flight testing campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and define system requirements for propulsion units.
  • Partner with external vendors to resolve performance issues and enhance design quality.
  • Coordinate with aerodynamics, structural, and avionics groups to improve engine integration, cooling efficiency, and vibration control.
  • Lead ground and flight test initiatives to validate engine performance under real-world conditions.
  • Create comprehensive test plans and campaigns to verify system capabilities.
  • Analyze test data to adjust and refine system parameters.
  • Act as the main technical contact between internal departments and propulsion suppliers.
  • Evaluate vendor designs, perform risk assessments, and verify that deliverables meet schedule deadlines.
  • Clarify requirements with customers to eliminate ambiguity.
  • Create maintenance protocols and conduct failure-mode analyses for propulsion systems.
  • Assist field operations teams in diagnosing and fixing engine-related problems.
  • Align Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations with strategic goals.
  • Produce detailed engineering documentation, including design specs, drawings, testing procedures, and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and internal policies.
  • Monitor advancements in mechanical engineering and UAV technology to integrate best practices into analysis workflows.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least eight years of experience in systems engineering development.
  • Minimum of five years in propulsion system design, integration, and testing.
  • Must be a Swiss or EU national.
  • Strong oral and written proficiency in English.

Nice to have

  • A doctoral degree may be considered equivalent to industry experience.
  • Background working with gas or heavy fuel engines.
  • Experience operating heavy fuel engines in maritime environments.
  • Previous technical leadership roles in UAV or aerospace projects.
  • German language skills are desirable.
