CSEM seeks a Senior R&D Engineer in Quantum Technologies for on-site work in Neuchâtel. The role focuses on quantum sensing, atomic clocks, and multidisciplinary project execution.

The company is looking for a senior engineer to drive research and development in quantum sensing and time-frequency domains. The position involves creating novel solutions, executing complex projects, and collaborating across various technical disciplines to advance industrial applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical implementation of R&D initiatives, covering lab work, design, simulation, and analysis for miniature quantum sensors and atomic clocks.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in the field to ensure cutting-edge expertise.
  • Identify and resolve intricate technical challenges while suggesting novel approaches.
  • Collaborate with engineers from diverse backgrounds within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support business development by preparing project proposals and offers.
  • Foster strong relationships with partners and attend client meetings.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, workshops, and conferences while expanding professional networks.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) alongside more than five years of hands-on experience.
  • Deep comprehension of quantum sensing principles and time-frequency metrology, including atomic sensor development and testing.
  • Proficiency in system-level design and integration.
  • Solid background in atomic clocks, timekeeping, and metrology.
  • Experience with laser stabilization and optical spectroscopy.
  • Ability to perform simulations using Python or similar software.
  • Fluent English with strong proficiency in French and/or German.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with CAD software like SolidWorks.
  • Prior experience in project management.
