R&D Engineer, Tablet Design

The company seeks a mid-level R&D Engineer in Lausanne to design and optimize the tablet interface for a medical endoscopy system, focusing on video quality and hardware integration.

This position is responsible for the development and refinement of the tablet-based interface used in a medical endoscopy system. The engineer will concentrate on improving video quality, imaging performance, and the integration of hardware components. The role reports directly to the CTO and works alongside hardware and software teams to ensure a smooth user experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the entire technical stack, ranging from camera modules at the tip of the device to the final video display.
• Improve the link between the endoscope and the tablet to guarantee stable and reliable video streaming.
• Refine the visual output utilized during medical procedures.
• Collaborate with external contract manufacturers and component suppliers.
• Lead complex technical systems within a small team environment.

Requirements

• At least four years of experience in system engineering, imaging systems, or embedded development, ideally within the medical device sector.
• Fluent English proficiency at the C1 level.
• Extensive background in camera systems, video pipelines, and real-time image processing.
• Comprehensive knowledge of hardware and software integration, particularly regarding tablet or embedded display systems.
• Hands-on experience with chip-on-the-tip cameras, signal transmission, and video optimization.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, IEC 60601-1, and regulated medical device production environments.
• Understanding of usability considerations under IEC 62366 (human factors engineering).

Nice to have

• Prior experience in endoscopy or similar MedTech companies is strongly preferred.
