R&D MECHANICAL ENGINEER - GEARBOX DESIGN

FAULHABER MINIMOTOR SA in Croglio, CH, seeks a Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer to lead gearbox product development. The role involves mechanical design, project management, sustainability evaluation, and collaboration across departments in a hybrid work environment.

The role involves leading product development projects, particularly for gearheads, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with production and sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new products by creating design proposals, construction drawings, prototypes, manufacturing procedures, and analyzing test results for both standard and custom products.
• Assess and improve environmental and sustainability factors throughout a product’s life cycle during design and development stages.
• Optimize products for technical performance and logistics, considering production and quality control processes.
• Support project progress tracking, including industrialization activities in production.
• Prepare and manage all technical documentation for projects.
• Handle change requests throughout the development process.
• Communicate with suppliers in multiple languages to define technical components.
• Provide technical support to the sales team when needed.
• Participate in evaluating the feasibility of production investments.
• Work with relevant departments to analyze non-conformities and ensure product certification.
• Act as project manager, presenting results and decisions to management or steering committees.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g., Mechatronics, Robotics).
• Proven experience in mechanical design and development, ideally with small gearheads.
• Understanding of core project management principles.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD Siemens NX and PLM Teamcenter.
• Ability to follow structured methods to meet defined goals.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Team-oriented approach and strong organizational skills.
• Creativity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Mandatory fluency in Italian and English.

• Additional language skills in German and French are advantageous.
