S&C MSAT Process Engineer

Elan AG seeks a Junior MSAT Process Engineer in Zug to support NGS production, drive continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma, and manage compliance within a regulated environment.

This position sits within the Sensor & Cartridge Operations technology area, where the team develops revolutionary Next-Generation Sequencing platforms currently in the Research Use Only phase. The role provides essential technical support for new sequencing production lines while executing improvement projects in a matrix structure across sites in Santa Clara and Rotkreuz.

Responsibilities

• Lead Continuous Improvement Process initiatives by applying Lean and Six Sigma methods to enhance yield and operational efficiency.
• Manage technical relationships with external suppliers to ensure the stability of the global supply chain.
• Deliver technical assistance for daily operations of newly established sequencing production lines.
• Carry out improvement projects while collaborating within a matrix organizational structure.
• Oversee core compliance duties, including the handling of non-conformities, change management, and document control.

Requirements

• A university degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering fields such as Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Material Science, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a completed apprenticeship with equivalent professional experience.
• One to three years of professional experience in a highly regulated setting, demonstrating a strong quality awareness and GxP mindset.
• Strong teamwork motivation, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently within and across multidisciplinary teams.
• A proactive attitude toward taking responsibility and collaborating with engineers, operators, QA, and logistics staff.
• A genuine interest in learning manufacturing technologies and continuously improving sequencing processes.
• Fluent English communication skills and a good working knowledge of German at B2+ level.

Nice to have

• Experience with data-driven process monitoring and the analysis of key production performance indicators.
• Practical knowledge in planning and executing experiments, preferably using statistical tools like Design of Experiments in lab or production settings.
• Strong coaching and communication skills to serve as a Subject Matter Expert, supporting shopfloor operators during production line ramp-ups.
