Senior Specialist, Standards and Methodologies - Compliance Markets

The company seeks a Senior Specialist for Standards and Methodologies to monitor carbon market developments and guide colleagues on regulatory risks and opportunities within its Certificates business line.

This role supports the Compliance Market team, which focuses on sourcing, developing, and commercializing carbon projects. The specialist tracks emerging standards and methodologies to help the organization navigate regulatory changes and assess their impact on the project pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor regulatory frameworks such as ICAO, sovereign Article 6 buyers, and ICVCM to determine the eligibility of carbon standards and methodologies.
  • Synthesize updates from carbon market standards and related initiatives into internal briefings, FAQs, trackers, and other guidance materials.
  • Maintain and enhance internal knowledge resources regarding project registration, verification processes, and procedural requirements of carbon standards.
  • Collaborate with Projects, Risk, and Portfolio teams on technical and methodological aspects of project registration and verification.
  • Assess the impact of methodology and standard changes on the project pipeline, including implications for credit volumes and project viability.
  • Share targeted information with the Certificates team regarding standards bodies, the Article 6.4 mechanism, and related methodologies through summaries, trackers, and dashboards.
  • Assist in drafting inputs or responses to standard bodies and technical committees under senior guidance.
  • Support project developers in performing technical checks to ensure alignment with standard requirements.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing about standards' rules and updates, and participate in the training program for the Asian Centre for Carbon Excellence.

Requirements

  • University degree, preferably at a Master's level or higher, in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of the principles underlying carbon crediting generation.
  • Knowledge of carbon standards' methodologies, tools, and procedures.
  • Work experience in project development teams under different standards or managing methodology revision/development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and orally, to carbon and non-carbon expert audiences.
