Software Engineer - Validation

Harmattan Ai in Lausanne seeks a mid-level Software Engineer - Validation to develop automated testing systems for drones, integrating hardware and software tools to scale testing from 1 to 100 units. The role requires Python, test bench design, and DevOps skills, with on-site work and EU/EFTA work permit required.

This role focuses on creating automated testing infrastructure for drones, combining hardware, software, and DevOps to enable efficient, large-scale validation. The goal is to build systems that allow testing 100 drones as easily as one, using simulation and physical test benches.

Responsibilities

• Create Python-based tools to automate log analysis, telemetry processing, and test report generation.
• Collaborate with software teams to incorporate physical hardware tests into the CI pipeline.
• Design and implement Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test setups to simulate flight conditions in lab environments.
• Develop mechanical fixtures and jigs using CAD to support consistent physical testing procedures.

Requirements

• Education or experience in Software Engineering, Embedded Systems, or Mechatronics.
• Solid expertise in Python programming.
• Prior experience with test benches, HIL systems, or automated test equipment (ATE).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools including Docker, Jenkins, Git, and Linux operating systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++ programming.
• Background in robotics or drone technology is advantageous.
• Mechanical design skills, particularly CAD, for creating custom test rigs.
