ETH Zurich seeks a Vice President for Infrastructure and Sustainability (COO) to lead a broad portfolio including real estate, ICT, and sustainability, reporting directly to the President.

This executive position serves as a key member of the University Board, responsible for ensuring that the institution’s physical and digital foundations are reliable, safe, and future-proof. The role exists to enable excellence in research, teaching, and administration by managing a wide array of critical services and infrastructure systems.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Infrastructure and Sustainability portfolio as Vice President.
• Create and execute long-term strategies for campus development, real estate, IT, infrastructure, and sustainability initiatives.
• Guarantee that infrastructure and services are high-quality, safe, and sustainable for the academic and administrative community.
• Manage major investment programs, construction projects, and sustainability measures.
• Enhance operational efficiency and long-term cost awareness across all portfolio areas.
• Unify diverse expert functions into a coherent, user-focused service organization.
• Promote collaboration among departments, central services, academic units, external partners, and public stakeholders.
• Prepare and represent strategic decisions within the University Board and before the ETH Council.
• Cultivate a leadership environment based on trust, responsibility, and collaboration.

Requirements

• Proven experience in strategic development and leadership.
• Strong background in sustainability and ICT management.
• Expertise in facility management and driving operational excellence.
