The company is seeking a working student to help build practical computer vision systems for surgical use. The position involves managing the entire data lifecycle, from creating datasets to establishing automated validation workflows.
Responsibilities
- Build and organize datasets for tracking surgical tools using real operating room footage.
- Generate simulated data in a controlled setting that covers various zoom and focus levels.
- Configure and manage a dedicated compute node for running nightly automated validation processes.
- Create scheduling and automation workflows, including cron jobs, services, and Docker-based execution.
- Test and benchmark computer vision pipelines, such as object detection and keypoint tracking, against set performance metrics.
- Review validation outcomes to enhance pipeline robustness and reproducibility.
- Maintain structured documentation for datasets, experiments, and results.
- Work closely with software, hardware, and clinical teams in an interdisciplinary setting.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming abilities in Python for data processing, scripting, and automation.
- Practical experience with Linux systems, specifically Ubuntu, and basic system administration.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized workflows.
- Foundational knowledge of computer vision and machine learning pipelines, including detection and tracking.
- Experience working with datasets, whether synthetic, simulated, or real-world.
- Understanding of model evaluation metrics like accuracy, detection rate, and stability.
- Basic knowledge of GPU versus CPU inference workflows.
