This position supports the team by designing and evaluating new tracking markers for surgical navigation software.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating a new tracker for surgical navigation software
- Research existing computer vision markers like ArUco
- Run parameter studies to assess how design choices affect performance
- Gather data and train detection models based on new designs
- Perform accuracy tests with new tracking technologies
- Write and maintain Python scripts and tools
- Review test results to enhance tracking accuracy and robustness
- Work with software engineers, robotics experts, and clinical stakeholders in an agile Scrum setting
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
- Proficiency in Python, Pytorch, and OpenCV
- Strong software development skills including prototyping, coding, and documentation
- Deep understanding of computer vision algorithms, deep learning, and image processing
- Experience with computer vision algorithms, training and validating deep neural networks
Nice to have
- Familiarity with object detection models like YOLO
- Experience with graphics simulation tools such as Unity
- Solid understanding of 3D geometry
- Strong English communication skills; German is a plus
