Coherent Switzerland AG seeks a Senior Advanced Mask Design Engineer in Zürich to lead photomask layout development for semiconductor products within the Process Integration team.
This position sits within the Process Integration team and requires close cooperation with R&D, Process Engineering, Lithography, and Production departments. The primary objective is to oversee the creation and upkeep of photomask layouts for specific product lines, guiding them from initial concept stages through to full-scale manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Create and sustain photomask layouts for VCSEL, Edge Emitter, and Photodiode items throughout their lifecycle.
- Formulate layout strategies and design methods for complex lithographic processes, including high-density 2D arrays, sub-100 nm patterns, and 2.5D features like tapers and lenses.
- Establish, update, and refine design rules, layout standards, and verification protocols.
- Conduct lithographic simulations and process verifications alongside R&D and Lithography specialists.
- Assist in new product introductions by providing mask design reviews, approvals, layout corrections, and technical advice.
- Write scripts and programming tools to enhance the speed and uniformity of mask design tasks.
- Handle mask documentation, MES operations, ordering procedures, and engineering change management.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Microsystems Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven background in photomask design and layout development for semiconductor or photonic applications.
- Strong command of Python programming, Git version control, and engineering data management systems.
- Fluent proficiency in both written and spoken English.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with advanced lithography techniques such as grayscale lithography, optical proximity effects, optical proximity correction, or submicron patterning.
- Understanding of stepper systems or deep ultraviolet lithography technology.
- Ability to communicate in German.
