CSEM seeks a Digital Radio IC Design Engineer in Neuchâtel to design advanced radio ICs for industrial and research projects, focusing on low-power wireless communication systems.
The company invites an experienced professional to join its RF and Timing integrated circuit design team. In this position, the engineer will lead the creation of cutting-edge radio ICs for various applications, including Bluetooth, UWB, and mm-wave radar solutions. The role supports the group's goal of advancing RF and Timing IC design through research, development, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside analog, digital, and RF specialists to develop next-generation radio ICs.
- Define radio specifications and architecture.
- Design and enhance radio modem algorithms and calibration routines for analog components.
- Validate designs using simulations, FPGA implementations, and laboratory testing.
- Handle backend processes including synthesis, place and route, backannotated simulations, and final checks.
- Collaborate with global clients, universities, and research institutes.
- Plan and document work while meeting deadlines and requirements.
- Approach problems creatively and challenge existing methods.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Proven experience in digital IC design.
- Strong understanding of digital communication principles, modulation schemes, and wireless modem architectures.
- Knowledge of radio architectures, including analog and digital building blocks, and low-power trade-offs.
- Signal processing skills at hardware and software levels for components like filters, interpolators, FFTs, CORDIC, and PID controllers.
- Proficiency in HDL languages, particularly VHDL.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the digital flow for ASICs and FPGAs.
- Understanding of information theory, including signal entropy, compression algorithms, and error correction codes.
- Interest in laboratory measurements.
- Fluent in English; French and German are valued.
